Summary

The feasibility of cold production by coupling of two reactors exchanging the reactive gas ammonia has been realized on a pilot plant of cold production, in the order of 1-2 kilowatts. The chosen reagents are barium chloride and manganese chloride ammoniacates. The selection of calander-tube reactors makes possible the effective production of cold to the thermal fluid at an average of 500 watts/kg; the duration of this production is 30 minutes. The obtained experimental COP on the pilot plant is 0.35; optimization of the form and size of the reactors would allow further improvement of the COP in the vicinity of 0.58. The comprehension of the dynamic interaction between the two reactors makes it possible to preview the modelling of double-effect systems.
