Daikin, the Japanese air conditoner manufacturer, recently decided to finance a research project dealing with CO2 capture. Research will be conducted at the Doshisha-Daikin Next Environment Research Centre, located in Kyoto.

The partnership between Daikin and the university will seek to create a function that surpasses carbon fixation by plants by combining Doshisha University’s proprietary CO2 electrolysis technology using molten salt with Daikin’s knowledge of fluoride-based ionic liquids.

Research will also be conducted to develop more efficient air conditioners.

Daikin has been a corporate member of the IIR since 1973.
