Étude expérimentale sur l’effet de l’ouverture du détendeur électronique sur la pression de refoulement d’une pompe à chaleur hydrothermique au CO2.

Effect of electronic expansion valve opening on discharge pressure of a water-source CO2 heat pump: An experimental study.

Résumé

Compared with traditional heat pumps with the refrigerants of hydrochlorofluorocarbons and chlorofluorocarbons, heat pumps with the refrigerant of carbon dioxide (CO2), i.e., CO2 heat pumps, have the advantage of little destruction on the ozone layer. A few studies have demonstrated that there is the optimal discharge pressure for maximizing the coefficient of performance (COP) of a CO2 heat pump. However, implementing the reliable control to maintain the fixed discharge pressure in experimental conditions is still a challenge. Therefore, this study proposed the use of a PI controller to adjust the opening of the electronic expansion valve to implement the discharge pressure control. The investigated CO2 heat pump used the compressor from the Officine Mario Dorin Spa with the type of CD 300H, and the gas cooler from the Swep International A.B. with the type of B18H. The cases with the discharge pressure of 7 100 kPa to 8 300 kPa with a step of 300 kPa were tested in the experimental conditions. The power used by the compressor and heat gained by the gas cooler were measured to calculate the COP of the CO2 heat pump. The effect of different discharge pressure on the COP of the heat pump was analyzed. In addition, the effect of the opening of the electronic expansion valve on the discharge pressure control was analyzed. The results showed that reducing the opening of the electronic expansion valve might increase the discharge pressure.
