Évaluation expérimentale d'un système frigorifique en cascade utilisant les frigorigènes naturels R290/R744, R1270/R744 et R600a/R744.

Experimental evaluation of a cascade refrigeration system with the natural refrigerants R290/R744, R1270/R744 and R600a/R744.

Résumé

Refrigeration architectures for low-temperature applications are gaining interest in the Industry, Commercial and Health fields. One of the most classical architectures are cascade systems, where two mechanical vapor compression cycles, with two different refrigerants are thermally paired by a heat exchanger acting as a condenser and evaporator simultaneously, for low and high temperature cycles respectively. New environmental rules make necessary to find proper refrigerant pairs to get refrigeration plants with high energy efficiencies together with environmentally friendly fluids. In this work, the energy performance of a cascade refrigeration system, placed on a climate room, was experimentally analysed using R134a/R744 as base of comparison and three alternative refrigerant pairs: R290/R744, R1270/R744 and R600a/R744, in order to know the best ultra-low GWP hydrocarbon alternative to R134a. Laboratory tests were conducted at the heat rejection temperatures of 20, 30 and 40°C, maintaining a fixed demanding low-temperature level of -20°C in the secondary fluid. From tests results R290 and R1270 could replace R134a in cascade refrigeration plants, improving energy and cooling capacity, specially at low heat sink temperatures.
