Evaluation numérique fondée sur deux paramètres de conception des réfrigérateurs sans givre : vitesse d'écoulement d'air interne et gamme de températures du thermostat.

Numerical assessment on two design parameters of frost-free refrigerators: internal airflow rate and temperature range of the thermostat.

Résumé

A first-principles dynamic simulation model was used to assess the influence of two design parameters, namely internal airflow rate and temperature range of the thermostat on the energy performance of a typical 440-liter frost-free refrigerator. The system simulation model was validated against experimental data showing a reasonable level of agreement for the whole range of operating conditions, including the start-up and cycling regimes. The system energy consumption was found to be within ±10% agreement with the experimental data, while the compartment air temperatures were predicted with a maximum deviation of ±1°C. It was found that there is an optimum airflow rate which minimizes the overall energy consumption. It was also observed that depending on the control settings, the energy consumption decreases when the temperature range of the thermostat increases.
