The book includes the papers presented during this symposium, organized by the ISHS AND IIR and held in Nice, France, on March 11 to 15, 1991. The topics were the following: economic importance of, and commerce in, ornamental plants; factors and mechanisms of senescence of cut flowers and pot plants; use of growth regulators in postharvest handling of ornamentals; sensitivity to cold of ornamental-horticulture products; cold and storage of cut flowers, pot plants and cuttings; storage and forcing of propagative organs of ornamental plants; postharvest diseases and protection of ornamental-horticulture products; the cold chain in ornamental horticulture.
