Résumé

A model for quasi-steady-state simulation of finned tube air coolers with single-phase secondary coolants has been modified in order to permit the study of ice slurry as secondary coolant, which is being nowadays proposed for applications such as supermarkets, cold storages, or air conditioning. The modifications have been implemented in a computer program, which has been validated against experimental data obtained in our laboratory by pumping ice slurry from an ethylene glycol solution through a standard fancoil. Once it was validated, the mathematical model appears as a useful tool to analyse thermal and hydraulic behaviour of this kind of systems, which can help to improve the design of these systems and optimize the operation conditions. In the paper, the mathematical model is described, the validation process is explained in detail and finally, some preliminary results are also reported and commented.
