Summary

Optimization of energy consumption by fluidized bed freezing tunnels is achieved through reduction of basic losses, which amounted to 25 to 30% of the total cold requirement. The paper presents the design and functioning of the fluidized bed freezer type KTF-750, where the original technical solutions are implemented. Theoretical premises for reduction of power consumption by fans and the corresponding facilities are discussed. The energy effects achieved during freezing of different product assortments are presented: power consumption of fans would be reduced by up to 60%. The yearly savings on operating costs were calculated, along with the remarkable savings on investment costs.
