PERFORMANCE OF VAPORIZERS IN AN AIR SEPARATION UNIT.

PERFORMANCES DES VAPORISEURS-CONDENSEURS DES COLONNES DE SEPARATION D'AIR.

Summary

THE THERMAL PERFORMANCE OF THE VAPORIZER IN A DOUBLE COLUMN USED FOR AIR SEPARATION BY CRYOGENIC DISTILLATION HAS A DIRECT INFLUENCE ON THE ENERGY CONSUMPTION OF THE AIR SEPARATION UNIT THIS EXCHANGER IS AN ALUMINIUM BRAZED PLATE AND FIN HEAT EXCHANGER. THE VAPORIZERS USED IN THE PLANTSBY'R LIQUIDE ARE OF TWO TYPES: THE THERMOSYPHON REBOILER, IN WHICH THE LIQUID OXYGEN CIRCULATES FROM THE BOTTOM TO THE TOP OF THE EXCHANGER ; THE FALLING FILM EVAPORATOR, IN WHICH THE LIQUID OXYGEN IS DISTRIBUTED AT THE TOP OF THE CORE AND FLOWS DOWN THE HEAT TRANSFER SURFACE BY GRAVITY. AN EXPERIMENTAL RIG HAS BEEN BUILT WHICH ENABLES TO TEST SMALL EXCHANGERS IN REAL OPERATING CONDITIONS. THE AUTHORS DESCRIBE THIS RIG WITH ITS SPECIFIC INSTRUMENTATION. THE RESULTS OBTAINED ARE ANALYSED.
