Summary

Adsorption refrigeration is still more of a research field than mass-produced technology, although it is being used in marine applications. This article presents a two-bed adsorption cooling system as a new kind of refrigeration. The influence of heat-source, evaporation and condensation temperatures as well as switching time on the system performance have been investigated. In this research silica gel is used as the adsorbent and water as the refrigerant. To show the influence of the adsorbent-refrigerant pair on the system performance two kinds of silica gel were used: 13X and 4A.
