Summary

A new heat storage material (CH(3)COONa.3H(2)O) with a phase change temperature of 55°C and a sub-cooling temperature of less than 2°C was developed. This sodium acetate trihydrate based material was obtained by a number of experiments for selecting proper nucleation catalysts and suspension mediums. The study results indicate that its fusion heat and thermal conductivity is 238 J/g and 1072 W/m.K (at 30°C), respectively. It seems that this new material may be suitable for heat storage in air conditioning systems.
