Exergetic analysis of water spray augmentation of air-cooled condensers.

Author(s) : MARKOSKI M. J.

Summary

The paper deals with two possibilities for water spray augmentation of the efficiency of air-cooled condensers and decreasing of condensing temperature: 1) direct-water spraying of the external surface of the condenser; 2) adiabatic humidifying of air in a spray chamber at the condenser inlet. Design expressions are derived for temperature and specific exergy of air at the inlet of the condenser, condensing temperature, energy savings and exergetic efficiency. Multistage humidifying of air was given special attention. Practical data are given.
