Desiccant cooling with silica.

Summary

In the contribution, a concept based on the adiabatic adsorption of water on a packed bed for an air cooling, is presented. The first innovation is the use of a new, modified silica, "Silica+" that has certain advantages. The second innovation is that the cooling is achieved in a closed cycle. The advantages of this approach are: environment-friendly, no use of CFCs, regeneration with waste heat and a complete climate system. The paper describes this cycle based on a Mollier-diagram and applied to a representative room. The COP is estimated.
