Summary
There is political pressure on the heat pump industry to find more climate friendly alternatives to the tradi¬tional HFC refrigerants, and as a consequence the majority of heat pumps will have to switch to refrigerants with some kind of flammability over the coming years. In this article we will describe this trend and discuss the implications of flammability to design, production and servicing of systems, as well as briefly touch on the challenges posed by national legislation.
