Summary

This article presents two calculation methods used to predict the temperature and airflow distribution inside the container of a refrigerated truck for two configurations (open door and closed door). The first method, in which fluid mechanics and thermal beahviour are partially decoupled, is used when the door is closed and the cooling system is operating. The second method (strongly coupled) calculates the natural convection produced when the door is open, following a cooling phase, when the system is turned off. The simulation results are compared with experimental values.
