Author(s) : BUSCHMANN W.

Summary

The effect of destruction of the tumours does not depend on the ice formation but on the freezing rate in the tissues; at least 40 deg C, if possible 100 deg C of temperature loss per minute are required. The results of a consecutive set of 84 patients are given. The discussion of the causes made it possible to increase the freezing rate with closed probes with fine walls as well as improve the training of new operators. Possibilities to extend the use of these method to other diseases are mentioned.
