Investigation of heat and mass transfer in silica gel-water adsorption system with plate fin heat exchangers.

Author(s) : ALAM K. C. A., SAHA B. B., LEUTZ J., et al.

Summary

The paper deals with both experimental and simulation analyses of the silica gel-water adsorption process in fin plate heat exchangers. A simulation model has been proposed to analyze the influence of combined heat and mass transfer during the adsorption process. Temperature profiles of the adsorber have been calculated by using a numerical method. A good agreement has been seen between experimental results and simulation data. Finally, concentration profiles have been calculated by using the simulation method to analyze the mass transfer in the adsorbent heat exchangers and a performance comparison is made between the two heat exchangers.
