Summary

The thermoacoustic refrigerator is highly reliable, compact with low vibration, and has promising applications in a number of fields such as military affairs, space technique, cryogenic electronics, life science and so on. The paper introduces optimization of the acoustic driver and heat exchangers of a self-made thermoacoustic refrigerator driven by the loudspeaker in details. The preliminary experiments have been performed. With the air at normal pressure as working fluid, the refrigerator obtained a maximum temperature drop of 27°C. When the system is filled with helium at a pressure of 0.12 MPa, a temperature drop of 20.6°C is obtained.
