Solubility of solid carbon dioxide in liquid nitrogen and liquid oxygen.

Author(s) : LI Q., CHEN G., ZHONG Y.

Summary

To control the concentration of carbon dioxide in cryogenic fluids, it is important to predict the solubility of solid carbon dioxide in liquid solvents at low temperatures. The ideal solution theory, the regular-solution theory and the modified Scatchard-Hildebrand equation for estimating solubility in nonpolar systems, are examined. The calculated results of solid carbon dioxide solubility in liquid nitrogen and liquid oxygen were compared with the experimental data from Fedorova and Yakimenko, and a brief discussion is also given.
