Experimental study of the thermo-acoustic engine with mixtures as working gases.

Author(s) : LIU Y. W., HUANG J., SHEN C., et al.

Summary

In order to further investigate thermodynamic characteristics of the thermo-acoustic engine, especially the influence of the working gas, an experimental apparatus of standing-wave thermo-acoustic engine is established. Thermodynamic characteristics of the thermo-acoustic system are investigated with different working gases, including pure nitrogen, pure helium, pure argon and helium-argon mixtures. Through series of experiments, useful experiment results are obtained and studied carefully. These results would provide reliable experiment basis for understanding the characteristics of thermo-acoustic engines and further improving of the thermodynamic performance of thermo-acoustic system.
