Prediction of the performance of the new stratum ventilation system in a typical workshop using CFD.

Author(s) : LIN Z., CHOW T. T., TSANG C. F.

Summary

The performance of stratum ventilation, a recently developed ventilation strategy, is assessed in terms of thermal comfort and indoor air quality using the computational fluid dynamics technique. The case of a typical Hong Kong workshop under local thermal boundary conditions is used to examine ventilation system. Various factors including percentage dissatisfied and mean air age are calculated to determine the performance of the ventilation systems. The stratum ventilation is shown to produce improved indoor air quality and thermal comfort for this particular case study.
