Summary

A novel cryogenic heat transfer system, which combines natural circulation cooling (NCC) and two-phase closed thermosiphon (TPCT) together has been proposed. Experimental investigations have proved that the coupling system (NCC + TPCT) has better cooling performance than either single NCC or single TPCT. Theoretical investigations on the steady-state heat transfer performance of single NCC and single TPCT have been performed. In this paper, a mathematic model was developed for the coupling system. The effects of NCC and TPCT on the cooling performance of the coupling system were determined. The calculated cooling temperatures agreed well with the experimental data.
