Summary

This paper describes an experimental model of a displacement ventilation system with high sidewall outlet used for a typical office room, and testing of the velocity distribution of the non-isothermal air jet and the temperature profile in the room under different load conditions. According to the requirements of thermal comfort standards, by analysing the vertical temperature difference in an occupied zone and with an air speed at 0.1 m above floor for all the conditions. The authors determine the range of the air supply parameters that meet the requirement of thermal comfort. Using the dimensionless velocity change curve of the ventilation jet, they also analyse the combined air jet flow regulation and its influence on the ventilation efficiency, and explain the influence of coupling action on the ventilation efficiency based on the two factors of supply air velocity and heat source intensity.
