MgSO4 aqueous slurries as secondary refrigerant.

Summary

This study proposes (hydrated) salt slurries as secondary fluid for large scale air-conditioning systems. Hydrated salt slurries show large latent heat because of the phase change from liquid to solid or reverse. By using this type of secondary fluid it is expected that the coefficient of performance of the related primary refrigeration cycle significantly improves. A number of salt solutions, mainly hydrated salt solutions, have been considered but this study concentrates only on MgSO4 salt slurries. Since the most crucial component of such a cycle is the slurry generator, this study focuses on the generator. The geometry considered is a fluidized bed salt slurry crystallizer.
