Creating of storage for liquid hydrogen of high purity.

Number: pap. n. 79

Author(s) : CHEREMNYKH O. Y.

Summary

Currently, there are various types of tanks for liquid hydrogen, which differ from each other in shape, size, working pressure, applied thermal insulation and purpose. Selection of parameters of stationary tanks is determined by the tasks that can be solved when creating cryogenic systems. The paper reports on projects of tanks in the range of 100 m3. After comparison of various types of insulation and the achieved coefficient of evaporation, design of a 100 m3 with combined screen and multi-layer vacuum insulation is described in more details. This new design reduced the evaporation considerably, to 0,3% per day. Specifics of a multi-vessel installation are described.
