Alternative lower GWP refrigerants for HFC-134a in intermodal refrigerated containers.

Number: pap. n. 582

Author(s) : LAWTON A. R., RHODES C.

Summary

HFC-134a is used as the refrigerating fluid in many of the world’s intermodal refrigerated containers. Compared to some refrigerants the GWP is relatively low, however alternatives exist with a significantly lower GWP. Normalised data is presented comparing the performance of a refrigerant with the GWP of around half that of HFC-134a and another with a GWP below 150.
