Summary

Sorption thermal systems are widely used in heating, cooling, and refrigeration applications due to their unique advantages in utilizing renewable resources such as solar and geothermal heat, as well as recovering waste heat from industrial process and power plants. However, although research and development of sorption systems have seen a significant increase during the past decades, simulation of sorption systems often remains a challenging task. Therefore, the Sorption system Simulation program (SorpSim) was developed to provide a reliable, flexible, and open-source simulation platform for promoting sorption system research. Based on the legendary code of ABsorption SIMulation Windows Version 5.0 (ABSIMW 5.0) developed by the Oak Ridge
National Laboratory in the 1990s, SorpSim combined the verified simulation capability of ABSIMW 5.0 with a user-friendly, interactive, and versatile graphical user interface (GUI).
