Summary

The heating primary energy ratio of gas engine-driven heat pump (GEHP) is high and the flue gas is usually used to heat the supply water directly. The system performance will be higher if the high-temperature flue gas is utilized for driving absorption heat pump (AHP). In order to analyze the system performance under different ambient temperature, the mathematic model of GEHP coupled with AHP is established and the system is compared with traditional GEHP system. The results show that the GEHP system coupled with AHP can not only improve the heating capacity but also the heating primary energy ratio (PER) by 3.5%~3.8%. Besides, the PER enhancement will be higher because the COP of the AHP system will be increasing when the ambient temperature is rising.
