Summary

The present work reports the numerical modeling of the heat and mass transfer inside a refrigerated truck trailer. The numerical model solves the conjugated heat and mass transfer inside the trailer under unsteady conditions. The conservation equations of mass, momentum and energy are solved in 3D and closed using the k-? SST model. It has been first validated against the numerical and experimental data of Lafaye de Micheaux et al. (2015). The results are then extended to a refrigeration system based on eutectic plates and placed in a refrigerated truck trailer used to transport frozen products. An innovative way to represent fans is also proposed. The inter-plate distance and the direction of the fans are optimized.
