RESEARCH ON STABILITY OF HELIUM EXPANSION TURBINE AND ITS GAS BEARINGS.

Author(s) : GE F. X.

Summary

THE AUTHOR INTRODUCES THE DESIGN OF TWO HELIUM EXPANSION TURBINES WITH GAS BEARINGS, USED IN A 100 L/H HELIUM LIQUEFACTION PLANT. BOTH TURBINES ARE INSTALLED SATISFACTORILY ON THE HEAD OF THE LIQUEFIER. THE ADVANTAGES ARE AS FOLLOWS: SINGLE STRUCTURE, EASY MAINTENANCE. THE AUTHOR DISCUSSES THE DYNAMIC CHARACTERISTICS OF HYDROSTATIC GAS BEARINGS AND SETS UP A CALCULATION FORMULA FOR THE VARIATION OF THE NATURAL FREQUENCY OF THE ROTOR ON THE GAS BEARING IN TERMS OF DIFFERENT STRUCTURAL MATERIALS. HE ALSO DEVELOPED GAS BEARINGS ON ELASTIC ELEMENTS FOR HELIUM TURBINES AT CRYOTEMPERATURES. THEY HAVE ALREADY OPERATED FOR 2,000 HRS WITH GREAT RELIABILITY.
