Refrigerant news: German F-gas consumption increases due to MAC

The German Federal Institute of Statistics (Destatis) revealed in December 2009 a 3.4% rise of fluorinated gas (F-gas) consumption by German companies in 2008: 10@030 tonnes in comparison with 9702 tonnes in 2007. Refrigerant consumption, which represented 7208 tonnes, saw the highest rise (+6.8%) during this period. As highlighted in the Destatis report, the increasing use of HFCs in stationary and above all mobile air conditioning (MAC) was largely responsible for this increase. A 5% rise in vehicle production has in particular led to a significant increase in the use of HFC-134a in MAC.
