Tests and qualification of thermochemical adsorption machines in refrigerated transport.

Résumé

The world of refrigerated transport is looking for attractive new technologies including adsorption systems. These thermochemical systems are interesting for their flexibility of use, their reliability and their lower environmental impact. However, the ATP (Agreement on the International Carriage of Perishable Foodstuffs and on the Special Equipment to be used for such Carriage) does not come up with a recognised methodology allowing testing or exploiting them independently of a given device.
This study proposes to fill this gap by developing a test method based on a modular approach which allows manufacturers and users having a range of equipment that better fit with their needs. The ATP requires to test a whole range of machines, simplifying those tests can be done by defining new criteria and new limits in order to keep the control on such machines. A case study is proposed as an example.
