Résumé

An innovative thermo-hydraulic process for cooling is presented. The innovative aspect lies in the compression step of the cycle while keeping on the other heat pump classic cycle steps. The compression work is performed by an alternating movement of a liquid piston. The water, while compressing the refrigerant, flows through a hydraulic pump. The water motion oscillates between two cylinders operating at different operating pressures: one is connected to the evaporator, while the other is connected to the condenser. Dynamic thermodynamic modeling based on Modelica is assigned to examine the feasibility of connecting the water hydraulic pump in the refrigeration system to a PV array in a rural off-grid house located in Algeria using R-134a as a refrigerant.
The machine performance is judged by the cooling load, the electric power consumed by the compressor and its COP. Indeed, a highly efficient compression system helps the PV system to take advantage of the match between cold demand and the solar resource availability with an optimal size.
