Etude expérimentale sur un détendeur à spirale destiné à un système de conditionnement d'air au dioxyde de carbone.

Experimental investigation of a scroll expander in a carbon dioxide air-conditioning system.

Résumé

Carbon dioxide (CO2) is a potential substitute for HCFC refrigerants with favourable environmental properties compared with other HCFC alternatives. One of the major challenges of using CO2 in air-conditioning applications is the low energy efficiency of the system at higher heat sink temperatures. The energy efficiency of a transcritical carbon dioxide (CO2) air-conditioning system can be improved significantly when the throttling valve is replaced by a work-producing expansion device (expander). Two automotive R134a scroll compressors were modified for use as expanders in CO2 air-conditioning systems. The highest isentropic efficiency of the expander was in the range of 50%. The maximum volumetric efficiency was 68%.
