Contrôle de la formation de givre sur une plaque plate à l'aide de champs électriques : aspects théoriques et résultats expérimentaux.

Frost formation control on a flat plate using electric fields: theoretical aspects and experimental results.

Résumé

This paper presents the results of an experimental study carried out at HVAC&R Laboratory of Politecnico di Milano that investigated the influence of an electric field on frost formation and accumulation on evaporators. Several experiments were carried out to measure the frost mass accumulated on a flat plate, both in the absence and in the presence of an electric field, varying the electric field intensity and uniformity, the air velocity, the cold surface temperature and the test duration. Depending on the conditions tested, the results show that an electric field makes it possible to reduce the frost mass accumulated on the evaporator surface by up to 25% while the power required to maintain the electric field is quite low.
