Etat de l'art dans le refroidissement utilisant l'eau (R-718) comme frigorigène.

State-of-the-art cooling with "water as refrigerant" (R-718).

Auteurs : PAUL J.

Résumé

Water, R-718, is the perfect refrigerant for water chillers and machines producing liquid, pumpable ice (binary ice). Water is safe, cheap, is not subject to pressure codes and does not harm the environment. Direct-contact heat exchangers contribute to the good COP. However, the enormous volumetric water vapour flow in association with a high pressure ratio poses particular requirements with respect to the design of the compressor. Radial water vapour compressors are relatively simple to develop and build. However, such compressors have shown problems with the mechanical design and materials, furthermore they suffer heavily from liquid entering the compressor and last but not least the dimensions of chillers or ice machines working with "water" as refrigerant are huge. Axial water vapour compressors are robust, small and efficient. The development is much more difficult and very expensive, however. In return, such compressors are insensitive to liquid entering the compressor, have excellent part-load control properties and can even be built oil-free with water as the lubricant.
