Utilisation des techniques de pulvérisation d'eau pour les refroidisseurs de gaz au CO2.

Using "water-spray" techniques for CO2 gas coolers.

Résumé

This paper addresses a system able to improve the performance of CO2 refrigeration plants when operating in the most critical conditions, i.e. with elevated ambient temperature. The authors refer to the direct cycle arrangement, where CO2 is the only refrigeration fluid: in the heat rejection phase, CO2 flows through a so-called gas cooler, transferring heat to ambient air at subcritical or supercritical pressures, according to the outside temperature. The system consists of spraying water on the heat exchanger during peak temperatures, by means of high pressure nozzles able to produce a spray of very fine droplets. The authors discuss the positive impact of using the spraying system both on the design conditions and on the yearly energy consumption.
