Sorption d'azote sur du charbon actif.

Nitrogen sorption on activated carbon.

Auteurs : TZABAR N., GROSSMAN G.

Résumé

The adsorption of nitrogen on activated carbon has been widely investigated, and there are many publications for many adsorbents, different conditions, and with various experimental methods. The drive for this work is the development of a nitrogen sorption compressor for a refrigeration cycle; therefore, the operating conditions are well defined and the temperature and pressure ranges of interest are known. The experimental apparatus and procedure are described which yield the isotherms in the ranges of 293.13-453.13 K and 0.2-3.8 MPa. The Freundlich, Langmuir, Sips, and Dubinin isotherms are fitted to the experimental data. The first three isotherm types are modified to incorporate the temperature dependence, so all models may be used for extended ranges of temperature and pressure. A comparison among the four isotherms shows that the Freundlich isotherm shows the best agreement with the experimental results, while the Dubinin isotherm is the least suitable for our data.
