Résumé

This paper presents the experimental measurements of heat transfer coefficient carried out during partial condensation of R410A in three different commercial braze plate heat exchangers. The plate heat exchangers tested in the present study are made of few channels (maximum three on refrigerant side) in order to avoid problems with maldistribution. The BPHE prototypes present different geometrical characteristics, plate design and aspect ratio. All the prototypes were designed with the same channels scheme where the first and the last ones are fed with cooling water. In order to compare the thermal behaviour of these plates, the experimental measurements were run by varying the specific mass flow rate between 15 and 40 kg/m2.s and the outlet vapour quality between 0.01 and 0.52. The experimental data were collected at around 2.22 MPa (i.e. saturation temperature of 36.5°C) and imposing a constant inlet superheating of around 16 K. The experimental data are compared with three models suggested in the open literature and with a new computational procedure developed by the present authors.
