Résumé

The need for improved design of evaporators has led to a significant amount of work during the last three decades. A thorough literature survey has been conducted on reported investigations of pressure drop and heat transfer coefficient during flow boiling of natural and synthetic refrigerants. This work is an extension of the previous work carried out by Revellin et al. (2009), who reviewed 88 articles on pressure drop during flow boiling of synthetic refrigerants. The pressure drop review now includes 144 articles (27 000 data points) published in 21 journals and the heat transfer coefficient review includes 130 articles (32 500 data points) published in 20 journals. Together, these both reviews deal with 11 geometries and 30 fluids. This paper synthesizes the results of investigations conducted since 1980, and provides a parametric analysis based on the geometry, the thermodynamic parameters and the flow parameters. According to the results, different research priorities are highlighted.
