Résumé

In residential buildings, the major part of the energy is consumed to produce hot water for heating and domestic hot water. By replacing fossil fuel-based direct combustion systems with systems that efficiently recover “ambient renewable heat”, primary energy consumption and CO2 emissions could be substantially reduced without affecting end-user comfort. The EC has recognized air, water and ground as renewable energy sources and has indicated heat pumps as the most effective technology to make use of them. As a consequence many directives have and will be defined and formalized to drive the industry to design and develop products featuring higher efficiency and higher performance, following standards that will be easily recognized by end users. For example a new labeling scheme will clearly show the performance of heat generators by comparing the primary energy consumption factor (n%). The ErP (Energy related Products) directive also provides the methodology for obtaining the n% value, which is directly related to the seasonal performance factor of the heat pump measured and calculated according to EN14825. The first part of this work is presented in this paper that presents a semi-empirical model of an air-to-water heat pump using a variable speed scroll compressor with Wet-Vapour Injection technology. The model is based on compressor data and heat pump parameters, such as pump and fan power consumption. Further parameters like heat exchanger temperature differences and defrost impact on the efficiency are taken into account. The experimental validation is presented in another paper.
