Résumé

A new greenfield supermarket installation has been built in Trondheim Norway. The shop opened in August 2013 and is one of the most energy effective grocery stores in Northern Europe. The key to the energy savings are: the active use of daylight which reduces the demand of artificial light; novel technologies applied in the ventilation system, adapted for the use in supermarkets, new generation of R744 booster refrigeration unit, multi temperature level energy storage, smart handling of the heat exchange between these systems and tuning of the overall control strategy. The subsystems are described in detail including their role during different operation scenarios which occur during the year. The entire system is well equipped with measurement devices for all sub systems, which allow a detailed analysis of the consequences when comparing various control strategies. The paper describes the design of the integrated sub systems and presents the first measurement results. A 30% energy saving was obtained during the first 6 month of operation, compared to similar supermarket in the same location.
