Résumé

A phase change emulsion (PCE) is a mixture of an aqueous solution and fine particles of a phase change material (PCM). PCE is attracting attention as a novel thermal medium because it offers not only high-density thermal storage but also easy heat transportation due to its high fluidity. However, there is a problem in practical utilization because of supercooling phenomenon iduced by the smallness of dispersed PCM particles. The main objective of the present study is to investigate the supercooling characteristics of PCM particles inside PCE. The supercooling characteristics were evaluated by determining the freezing ratio of PCM particles inside a PCE which was cooled under various conditions. As a result, it was revealed that the frozen ratio of PCM particles increased with increasing content rate of PCM. Furthermore, it was found that the cooling time, supercooling degree and mean particle diameter of particles affect the ratio too.
