National exports of liquefied natural gas (LNG) could more than triple to 63 million tonnes per annum by 2016-2017: Australia intends to play a greater role in satisfying global energy demand.
This is the forecast of the inaugural Bureau of Resources and Energy Economics (BREE) Gas Market Report released in July 2012 by the Minister for Resources and Energy.
According to the Minister, Australia is well positioned to take advantage of increased global LNG trade and is on track to become the world’s second largest exporter of LNG by as soon as 2015.
There are 7 LNG projects under construction in Australia.
