Briefs: Environmentally friendly arena
The Marcel Dutil Arena in Saint-Gédéon-de-Beauce, Quebec, is now environmentally friendly and economic thanks to CO2 technology. The control technology can be modulated remotely. The electricity consumption has dropped 20-25% since the system was launched, representing savings of around CAD 17000/year. Heat recovery now meets 80% of needs in terms of heating and hot-water production. There are around 7000 ice-skating arenas in Canada and the USA, and CO2 technology is likely to be used increasingly during upgrades in this sector.
