Briefs: Mahindra introduces Hy-Alfa hydrogen-powered three-wheeler
Three-wheeled vehicles are common on the streets in India. However, these vehicles are generally either human-powered or they run on gasoline, often using highly polluting two-stroke motors. Mahindra, a major vehicle manufacturer in India, has its sights set on a cleaner, more environmentally friendly alternative that burns compressed hydrogen gas in an internal combustion engine. Mahindra and its partners plan to launch a demo fleet of 15 units next year in New Delhi. Hydrogen is clean and lean burning, resulting in better fuel efficiency, avoids engine de-carbonizing and does not emit any greenhouse gases.
