Briefs: NVvK

NVvK's journal is celebrating its centenary! In its special centenary issue issue, RCC Koude & Luchtbehandeling, the official journal of NVvK, presents an article on the worldwide links of NVkV, particularly with the IIR. The first International Congress of Refrigeration in 1908 and the setting up of the International Association of Refrigeration - which became the IIR in 1920 - was largely supported by Prof. Kamerlingh Onnes, from the Netherlands. Following this congress, in order to promote refrigeration in his country and favour international co-operation, Kamerlingh Onnes set up the Dutch association of refrigeration (NVvK), which has played from the beginning an important role in the IIR.
