Figures: China: Air conditioning

According to recent figures issued by the China Commodity Marketplace, China produces 70% of air conditioners worldwide. Production reached 63 million units between August 1, 2006 and July 31, 2007. The main cause of such high figures is the rapid growth of exports. According to the Chinese customs services, the country exported 29.3 million air conditioners during that fiscal year, which represented a 6.7% year-on-year increase in numbers, while the export value reached USD 5.1 billion, representing a 20.5% increase since the previous year.
