Figures: China: LNG

According to National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), China needs 100 to 120 billion m3 of natural gas annually until 2010 but will only produce 90 to 100 billion m3. NDRC projections predict annual demand to swell to 200 to 240 billion m3 in the 2010-2020 period. Increasing imports of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) will contribute to meet the surging demand on the domestic market; according to Sinopec Natural Gas Co. Ltd, China is to import 10 million tons of LNG annually. Imports may rise as new LNG projects in Shanghai and Fujian Province will be completed within the next 3 years.
