Improving Cold Storage in Pakistan

The Pakistani government has recently announced that it will provide funds to the national food sector, in order to improve cold storage facilities. The scheme, called ‘Cool Chain and Cold Storage for Horticulture Products' aims at mitigating the huge post harvest losses that hinder the export of fruit and vegetables. It is estimated that only 0.5 million tonnes out of the 13 million-tonne annual production produced in Pakistan were exported. Newsletter ColdStoredesign.Com March 2007
